4. Do you prefer to live in a residence where there are strict rules (such as rules against making loud noises at night), or do you prefer to live in a residence without strict rules.
Personally, I would like to choose a residence with strict rules. Our home is supposed to a place where we can relax and take a good a rest, thus get ready for the next day. As a student, I am occupied with lots of assignments, like papers, presentations, and even group projects during the day. If I go back home at night and still don't have a chance to take a good rest, I will be really mad. To be able to live in a place with strict rules, we will not be distracted and disturbed by others, also, it restrains oneself from doing something disruptive to others, and I think it is mutually beneficial to one another.
5. Some like do jobs with different tasks and others prefer to do the same task every day. Which one do you prefer?
I would like to choose a job that requires me to do lots of tasks. First of all, sitting in the office and repeating the same task again and again can be killing. I will be really bored doing these repetitive tasks, and my working efficiency will be very low. Secondly, doing lots of different tasks can develop myself to be a well-rounded person, now the job market is very competitive. If you are trained to do different kind of tasks in a professional setting, you will be more popular in the job market, thus have a better shot in getting a higher-paid job.
6. Some people believe that it is better for children to grow up in big cities. Others believe that it is better for children to grow up in rural areas. What is your opinion and why?
I would say it is better for children to grow up in big cities. The facilities and the atmosphere will be very beneficial to kids to grow up in a city. For example, kids are likely to get better education, medical treatment, and even social welfare. However, kids that live in the country are not that lucky. Apart from that, a big city is multi cultural and full of dynamics, there are people from all over the country and even from around the globe. Getting a chance to experience different languages, customs and cultures will benefit the kids a lot when they grow up and it will make them a better and well-rounded person.
7. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: Students should have some working experience such as doing a part-time job before going to college.
I would say students should definitely have some working experience like taking a part time job before going to university. I have the following reasons for support. To begin with, you can make some money out of any part time job, and by saving up lots of money, you probably can pay some part of your expensive college tuition, and buy things you are interested in. On top of that, doing a part-time job helps to make someone a responsible person, by working with co-workers, you can develop social skills and organizational skills, which are fairly important for one's future career, and that might give you a better shot to land a sweet job after graduation in college.
8. Would you like to make friend with different interest or the one with same interest? And why?
I would like make friends with different interests. Even though it might be easy for two people with the same interest to be friends, as the saying goes birds of the same feather flock together. However, by making friends with people of different interests, we get a chance to know more, like, we can know more in different fields, if your friend happens to be a car fan, you will broaden your knowledge about different types of cars. Also, your friend can learn something that is not very familiar to him, it is always a good thing to learn from others and have something to offer at the same time.
9. When you have problems, you will ask advisor for help or search it through internet or library?
I would say I definitely search it on the internet or in the library. Cuz, as a college student, we are pretty busy with all kinds of assignments like papers, presentations and even group projects, it is not quite possible for us to find a time when both we and our advisors are available. Additionally, with the help of internet, all we have to do is to type in the key words of the problem we are trying to solve, and then we have the answer show up on the screen, plus, we can do that wherever and whenever we want. It is not very time consuming and actually it works fine, most of time we can find the answer by doing that.
10. Here are two jobs with equal amount of time and pay. One you need to work with other employees in a group and the other requires you to work individually. Which do you prefer?
Personally, I would like to work in a group with other colleagues, I am an extrovert and outgoing person, and I think it is more fun when there are people around me. Plus, I can also learned the importance of cooperation and responsibility when I am with a team, to achieve something that is assigned to us, me and my teammates struggle together for a common goal, offer each other motivation along the way, and I feel that I care something bigger than myself during the process, and I think this is very meaningful.
11. Agree or disagree: Power and money is the definition of success for a person.
Personally, I don't agree that power and money is the definition of success for a person. Admittedly, people have different perspectives when it comes to the definition of success. My version is that live life to the fullest, and pursue the things that you are really interested in and passionate about, and by that, I mean one cannot be judged in monetary terms or even power. A teacher, janitor, waiter or waitress in a restaurant can be regarded successful if they don't complain what they do, and instead love their jobs. Thus, I think any person with love, and has something to offer to society, and makes people happy is successful.
12. Do you agree or disagree that having a relaxed or unhurried life is most important for a person.
Well, I certainly don't agree that having a relaxed or unhurried life is most important for a person. Life is short and should not be wasted in doing things that are not meaningful, like just relaxing and doing meaningless stuff. It is actually very important for a person to keep a relatively tight schedule, and that makes a person productive. Take college students as an example, they are pretty busy with all kinds of assignments like papers, presentations and even group projects. If they just wander around and do nothing during college, they might not be able to graduate. Plus, professionals should not just relax and live a unhurried life, cuz they have to close business deals and be always on the run.
