5. 高分范文
Happiness is something that many of us look for in our lives. Some people claim that your job has more influence on your happiness, whereas others say that your social life has a greater effect. I fall into the latter camp and will explain my standpoint using two key reasons.
To start with, the main difference between work and our social life is that generally, we choose our friends in our social life, whereas at work, we are randomly thrown together with groups of strangers. While we spend a lot of time with these people, they are not usually our real friends. We choose our friends based on their characters and common interests with ourselves. For this reason, I believe that our social life is the greater source of our happiness. My parents are a great example of this. They both have jobs and work colleagues, but their active social life is clearly more fulfilling and fun. They often have dinner parties with their friends, which are usually noisy, happy occasions. As well as these, they both belong to a sports club and we often go away on weekends with their friends and their families they met at the club. They very rarely socialize with people from work and clearly get more happiness from their social life.
Another key point concerns levels of help and support from friends. Although many people build relationships at work, I believe that it is our real friends from our social lives that we turn to if we have problems. Overcoming problems is a great way to feel happier with ourselves and our lives. My sister's situation illustrates this point neatly. She was feeling low due to breaking up with her boyfriend last year, and she needed a sympathetic ear to turn to. While she had some friends at work, she did not feel able to talk about such a personal matter with them. She has two close friends she has known since her schooldays, and it was to these two that she turned. They listened to her, gave her advice, and took her out on several occasions. Because of this valuable help and support, she was able to feel happier and approach life with a more positive frame of mind.
In conclusion, I am firmly of the opinion that your social life has more influence over your happiness than your job does. Your social life includes the friends you have chosen and the people you have things in common with. Moreover, your real friends are able to support you through difficult times more than your work colleagues.
