模考43 Task 4
Sample Answer
Well, the professor gives us a lecture on two types of factors contributing to population changes. The first one is biotic factors, meaning the influence of living beings. For instance, in the wilderness, the amount of mice relies on the number of owls. Suppose in a year, the owl’s population increases more than ever, and then the mice in the area have more predators, and eventually the number of mice drop accordingly. Besides, the second factor is abiotic factors, defined as the impact of nonliving things in the environment. For example, the rabbits in a region tend to give birth to young rabbits in the whole year except for the winter. However, one year, the winter is far shorter than the previous winters, which makes the rabbits enter their reproduction cycle much earlier. So the population of rabbits ascends due to the varied climates. To sum up, these two factors both give rise to population changes.
