高分范文
There are times when we may find ourselves in an awkward situation, such as being in a meeting or classroom and hearing the wrong information. We need to decide on the best course of action to take to rectify this, and I strongly feel that we should not correct the teacher, whether on-the-spot, or at the end of the session. I have two main reasons to support this standpoint.
To start with, teachers and meeting leaders have positions of respect in my culture, and therefore it is considered highly impolite to correct anything they say, whether at the time they say it, or later. To do this is breaking a cultural taboo that is more important than actually getting the right information. It may well have been just a slip of the tongue and is not so important. I clearly remember an incident at school when a student interrupted the teacher and corrected a piece of information in class. As a result, the teacher became very angry, and the student was sent out of the class. At the end of the class, the teacher spoke to us about the importance of respect and said it was mutual. If you show respect to people, they will show it back to you. It made me realize what a mistake it was to correct someone in authority in this way.
Secondly, there are far easier and more effective ways of addressing problems of hearing incorrect information in this type of situation. With smart phones being ubiquitous nowadays, it is simpler to just send the corrected information to your classmates or colleagues rather than risk offending the teacher. Just such an incident happened at my high school when a history teacher made a mistake about the date of a historical battle we were learning about. My classmate checked this date online and found that the teacher had made a mistake. Instead of causing a problem in class, she posted the correct date on our class social media page. This was by far the best way to deal
with the situation, as we ended up with the appropriate information, and the teacher was not inconvenienced by being corrected either at the time, or later, after the lesson.
So, in conclusion, I firmly believe that the ideal way to address this sort of a situation is to say nothing to the teacher. The status of the teacher or leader must be respected and just circulating the correct information outside class benefits the students and does no harm to the teacher or leader.
