Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is more enjoyable for students to read works of fiction (such as novels and stories) than nonfiction. Use specific examples and details to support your opinion.
Topic sentence-disagree
· Reason 1 : not about the type but personal preferences
Development 1(example): some students enjoy reading the fascinating fictional literatures while there’re other students who believe fact-based writings are more appealing; I enjoy both American history and Harry Potter
· Reason 2 : nonfiction books are not always tedious
Development 2 (example): nice pictures and well-organized ideas
Sample Answer:
As for me, I don't back up this idea. The reason is that it’s not the type of reading that matters but the different personal preferences. Some students enjoy reading the fascinating fictional literatures while there’re other students who believe fact-based writings are more appealing. Just like me, both American history or Harry Potter are my top 1 choice when it comes to choosing what to read for pleasure.
Another important reason is that nonfiction books are not always tedious. With nice pictures and well-organized ideas, flipping through it could be a pleasant reading experience as well.
