sample answer
Communal nutrition means that when insects living together, they would try to provide appropriate food to different group members.
And in the listening part, the professor talked about ants as an example to illustrate communal nutrition.
Ants living together and they gather food together to share those food with group members. Forager ants usually get sugar rich food for group members such as, pieces of fruit and other sugar-rich items, so that the group members can get enough energy in their daily tasks.
However, when there’re changes in the group, the foraging ants would adjust the food to meet special needs. For example, when there’s baby ants in the group, they need food that are rich in protein to grow, so that foraging ants would look for certain types of leaves or mushrooms instead. This is called the communal nutrition.
