Well, I totally back up this idea simply because a friendly learning environment benefits studying. You know, if the teachers are pretty nice and approachable, I bet students are more willing to be engaged in classroom activities like group discussions. Then, they would acquire more knowledge while participating in them. Back in my high school time, I had a chemistry teacher who was super strict to us so I never enjoyed her class and always scored poorly in the exam.
Also, a kind teacher tends to be more patient with students. It means that, instead of leaving questions unsolved, students would dare to turn to their teachers whenever they got a problem. Obviously, it helps them learn more.
