sample answer
The suspension of disbelief means that when the audience is emotionally involved in the event, they would forget the action of play is imaginary, and believe it’s real.
In the lecture, the professor talked about his own experience as an example.
When his roommate dressed up like an old man, he thought it was still his roommate and didn’t believe the play. However later on he saw the father got sick and the entire family was sad, he got worried coz the suspension of disbelief made him more emotionally absorbed. When the family got by and paid their bills, the father recovered from his illness, the professor felt relieved and happy for them, like it was really happening around him in real life.
This is how he responded emotionally because of the suspension of disbelief. And this example certainly illustrates that.
