As Forrest Gump says, life is like a box of chocolate that you will never know what you are going to get. It is certainly wonderful when we get a sweet one, the success, and it is also common that we have a bitter one, the failure. Thus, I agree that success is not the most important thing and to remain happy and optimistic when failure comes is more important.
To begin with, with failure being almost unavoidable in life, success is hardly the most important thing. As we have different expectations for ourselves, success cannot be explicitly and uniformly defined. In this case, if we set a goal too difficult to achieve just because we want to push ourselves, how can we keep realizing this kind of dream? Naturally, failure will come sooner or later. Even though we are quite prepared for something within our ability to reach, accidents may happen, preventing our achievement. For example, in last semester, after editing my resume for five times and taking three interviews, I finally received an internship offer as a teaching assistant in our local primary school. However, when I thought I succeeded, the sudden outbreak of corona virus ruined this precious opportunity and my expected success. Therefore, success is not the most significant thing and dealing with failure is always a must.
Furthermore, remaining happy and optimistic when we fail will probably lead to future success. For one thing, staying optimistic generally means staying confident and hopeful. Without the two kinds of attitude, we are easily trapped in one little failure, doubting ourselves and fearing the next challenge. For another, every coin has two sides, so does the failure. Only by staying happy can we confront what we fail to do, analyze behind-the-scene causes and learn valuable lessons. Otherwise, we may be overwhelmed by frustration, seeing nothing bright but darkness. Take my baking experience as an example. The first time I tried to bake a cake for my best friend's birthday, I did not follow the recipe exactly because I thought the sugar was too much and the baking temperature was too low for my small oven. Undoubtedly, the cake was a disaster, but my friend cheered me up to conclude from this failure. It was this positive attitude that helped me realize that I should respect authoritative guidance before having my own experience. This lesson saved me a lot of trouble later in my life.
To conclude, since failure is inevitable and optimism helps us be well prepared, staying optimistic after failure is even more essential than achieving success.
