Governments around the world are trying to find the most effective way to spend money and ensure the successful development of their countries. There are some experts who believe that investing in the education of young children is of great significance. As far as I am concerned, however, governments are well-advised to pay more attention to university education.
First and foremost, financially supporting university education contributes to more scientific breakthroughs. Having more funds from the government, universities are able to conduct comprehensive and wide-ranging research, which makes new inventions and discoveries possible. For instance, if medical schools have money to buy advanced equipment, people are more likely to have access to medicines that cure deadly diseases like cancer. Moreover, if professors from archeology department receive funds to travel to different archeological sites, they may solve the mysteries of ancient cultures from the relics and tombs they unearth. Besides, if professors who study astronomy can invest more money in buying sophisticated telescopes and hire assistance, they are able to find more about the solar system and discover new stars. However, without government funding, it is impossible for professors to unravel the mysteries of the universe or find better ways to solve problems. Therefore, it is supporting university education that leads to more scientific discoveries.
Furthermore, having high quality university education will attract more talented students. People want to work in a field that had the best resources and best development opportunities. Thus, improving university education will attract more people. Take the U.S., whose government gives priority to education and invests much money in promoting its higher education, as an example. When I asked my cousin which country she would choose for further study, she told me she wanted to go to the United States. When asked why, she explained that it has the most experienced professors who can impart knowledge in an inspiring way and the most advanced facilities which enable students to conduct experiments with higher precision and study with higher efficiency. I believe this is the exact reason why more and more people decide to attend universities in the U.S.. Thus, only by spending money on developing university education can a country have more intelligent people.
In conclusion, it is a better choice to invest in developing university education. Not only can it bring scientific breakthroughs, but also it can attract more talented people.
