Achieving success is what people have been pursuing for all throughout their life. It is generally believed that people can be more likely to transform their dreams into truth if they do things that they are familiar with. However, from my perspective, successful people always take risks and try new things.
First of all, let us consider Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook.com. Now, this world’s most renowned social networking site he established has been regarded as the third densely-populated country in a global scale, according to the Washington Post; his personal wealth has exceeded 50 billion dollars; more importantly, his Facebook.com has changed our traditional way of connecting people. This is why he has made a dent in human history. As well all know, he quitted Harvard University in his sophomore, which was regarded as a huge risk because such decision might cast dark cloud on his future development. However, instead of following the crowd, he pioneered his own business and eventually achieved big success. If he had continued study in Harvard, he would have had good academic performance. Mark Zuckerberg’s experience strongly indicates that successful individuals sometimes are risk-takers.
It is a similar story with Roger Federer, a legendary Swiss tennis player. When he was a child, his father let him try both soccer and tennis. And in 14 years old, he must give up one sports event to pay all his efforts to another one. His father thought that he was cut for soccer. However, Roger believed that he is built for tennis, which should be considered as a big risk because he never knew whether or not he can be successful in playing tennis. However, he still started tennis training and eventually became a professional tennis player in 1998. Now, he has won up to 103 champions and made plenty of records like a 310-week MVP in tennis matches, 20 grand slams, and 10 champions both in Halle and Basel. And a lot of people think that he is the GOAT (greatest of all time) of tennis. In addition, he gets a great success in commercial. From this case, we can conclude that successful people sometimes take risks and try new things.
In conclusion, instead of doing what they already know how to do well, successful people always take risks to try new things.
