Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Because of the increasing popularity of entertainment technology, fewer people are taking the time to read books for pleasure.

Well, I agree with the statement that people are reading less because of social media.

First of all, digital media has largely replaced these more traditional forms of media like books, cause digital media is more fun. People can easily spend hours texting, scrolling through social media. It’s pretty addictive.

Instead, reading books is too time-consuming for some people. Cause they have to spend hours understanding complex ideas and developing critical thinking skills. While reading a book, people have to use imagination to visualize the characters, the settings and the plots. Instead, if they choose to watch a movie or play video games, they just have to be there and they can have fun immediately.
