Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is less important now for schools to teach young people to do math in their heads because of the availability of new technology that can do it for them.

范文：

I disagree with the statement. I think there is still need to teach students to do math in their heads. First, using new technology like calculators result in dependence. Students may find themselves in situations where they won’t be able to perform even the easiest calculations without the aid of a calculator. This may cause them real trouble in daily life.

Besides, math is used in everyday living. It helps us to comprehend how the world works. Things like calculate or understand interest on credit cards or loans. Or how many of different kinds of coins are needed to make up a dollar. It is just necessary for us to learn math in order to have an understanding of how things work.
