Task 1 :
1. Some people prefer to have a very tight schedule, while others prefer to have more free time in their schedule. Which one do you prefer and why?
Personally, I prefer to have a schedule with more free time, to begin with, as a high school student, I am overwhelmed with all kinds of assignments, like presentations, group projects and papers and stuff, I should have a chance to escape from my busy study, and relax a little bit. Life is not all about the so called important stuff, like keeping a high GPA, making lots of money, or landing a well-paid job. far more important stuff than that, like I should have some free time to hang out with my families, and spend some quality time with them. That's why I prefer to have a schedule with more free time.
Task 2:
1. Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Parents should give more pressure on their children for doing well at school.
Personally, I would say that parents should give more pressure on their children, actually, lots of kids waste their time playing video games, and some of them got addicted to playing on-line games, and they are too young to realize how valuable time is to them right now, they don't even feel the peer pressure, and they are not aware that their future is somewhat depended on their academic performance in school. So the parents should constantly remind them the importance of school, and they should get more pressure from their parents.
2. Which do you think is more important for someone to be successful: taking risks or making safe decisions?
Well, personally, I would say we should taking risk when it comes to success. To begin with, lots of successful businessperson take risk in order to survive and thrive in competing with their competitors. For examples, real estate tycoon Donald Trump, I am sure he lost billions of dollar whenever there is recession, but I am sure the risks he took would pay off. Another case in point is Sir Richard Branson, a very iconic businessman from England. He risked his own life and health to fly the balloon over the Atlantic ocean in order to market his company and his own image. Based on these reasons and more, taking risks is a good choice
3. Your professor is asking you to help with some research work on the weekend, but you have planned to go to your sister’s birthday party. Which would you choose to do? Explain why?
Personally, I would say I'd like to go to my sister's birthday party and spend some quality time with her. To begin with, there are far more important stuff in life than just doing research in school and keeping a high GPA, my family members are also very important to me. My sister's birthday only happens once a year, it will be a shame for me to miss it, and I bet she will be very excited if I show up in the party. Additionally, I can put off the research for now, and I think the professor is a considerate person, and he will understand my tough situation.
4. Which of the following library volunteer work would you choose? Helping people find the right material, reading to kids, or keeping bookshelf organized?
Personally, I would like to help people find the right material. Actually I like to help others directly, and I get a sense of accomplishment when I can help out others, sometimes students have a hard time finding the book they need, and there is nobody there assisting them, since I am very quick with alphabetical order and numbers, so I will be very efficient. On top of that, this job can help me to meet new people and make new friends, they might have different majors, thus I can be exposed to new concepts and idea when interacting with them, and this will make my life in college more meaningful.
